SHAPING THE NARRATIVE: PERSPECTIVES ON HOLOCAUST EDUCATION IN A NEW ERA
Nationalism, antisemitism, and Holocaust denial have increased dramatically in recent years. The war in Ukraine, reactions to the October 7 terrorist attack on Israel, the subsequent war between Israel and Hamas, and South Africa’s charging Israel with genocide in the International Court of Justice have further politicized academic and public discourse about the Holocaust.
How can Holocaust education address these challenges?
Our distinguished scholars, Professor Havi Dreifuss (Tel Aviv University and Yad Vashem Institute, Israel), Professor Avinoam Patt (New York University, United States), and Professor Piotr Forecki (Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, Poland) will share their approaches to teaching the Holocaust in today’s reality. The conversation is moderated by Professor Natalia Aleksiun (University of Florida, United States).
