Inclusive Teaching with the Story of Jan Karski
Join Ijeoma Njaka, co-creator and professor at the Georgetown University for a workshop on the curriculum and inclusive teaching based on Remember This: The Lesson of Jan Karski. We will discuss our approaches to inclusion and model exercises from the course that support students as they engage with Professor Karski’s legacy.
IJEOMA NJAKA is a professor at Georgetown University specializing in inclusive pedagogy and anti-bias education for student, faculty, and staff audiences with a particular emphasis in arts-based practices. Njaka co-designed and co-teaches the “Bearing Witness: The Legacy of Jan Karski Today” course for undergraduate students and teaches graduate-level courses in critical speculative design for anti-racism as well as arts and enduring meaning. She serves as the Senior Project Associate for Equity-Centered Design at the Red House and the Inclusive Pedagogy Specialist for the Laboratory for Global Performance and Politics. Njaka holds an MA in Learning, Design, and Technology from Georgetown University as well as an AB from Brown University.
CLARK YOUNG is a writer and teacher based in Brooklyn, New York. He co-created Remember This: The Lesson of Jan Karski and co-wrote its film adaptation. A Georgetown University graduate, Clark went on to gain his master’s degree at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. He has since taught theater at Georgetown and Bronx Lighthouse College Prep Academy and works with the creative team to develop educational resources based on the play and on the soon-to-be released film, Remember This.
