Thorsten Wagner is a German historian and the Executive Director of FASPE (Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics). Having grown up in Denmark, he completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Tübingen, Germany, and his graduate work at Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Dr Wagner worked as a research fellow at the Danish Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies, taught at the Humboldt University in Berlin and was Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen. He is the author of numerous publications in the fields of Modern German and European Jewish History, antisemitism, Holocaust studies, cultures of memory, and Israeli history. He currently resides with his wife and their two children in New York City.

Paul Salmons is an independent curator and educator specialising in difficult histories. Paul creates powerful exhibitions and educational experiences that have a profound and lasting impact on their visitors. Currently, he is the curator of the international award-winning exhibition ‘Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away’ and Chief curator of ‘Seeing Auschwitz’, an exhibition for UNESCO and the United Nations. Previosuly, Paul Salmons helped create the United Kingdom’s national Holocaust Exhibition at the Imperial War Museum, co-founded UCL’s Centre for Holocaust Education and was responsible for its educational vision and pedagogic approach.

Pawel Sawicki is a journalist, photographer and guide with over 15 years of professional experience. Since 2007, he has worked at the Auschwitz Memorial Press Office and is the editor-in-chief of the Auschwitz Memorial monthly magazine. During his tenure at Polish Radio 2, he produced a feature documentary series “Auschwitz, Between Crime and Sanctity” using audio testimonies from the Auschwitz Memorial Archives. He is also the author of a photo album, “Auschwitz-Birkenau, The Place Where You Are Standing…,” in which 31 historical photographs are contrasted with their present-day depictions.
