Field Guide to Jewish Warsaw
In 2012 the Taube Center published the Field Guide to Jewish Warsaw & Krakow. The field guide was created by an international team of experts and writers and is used by our Taube Jewish Heritage Tour program. Opening with a concise historical overview of the millennium of Jewish life in Poland and of today’s cultural revival, the guide presented eight unique walking tours, four in each city, accompanied by full-color maps, detailed directions, and illustrated discussions of important sites and people.
The 2020 edition separated the publication into two new, revised, and expanded guides covering each of the cities, with the Field Guide to Jewish Warsaw scheduled for publication WHEN and the Field Guide to Jewish Krakow following soon after.
The new Field Guide to Jewish Warsaw contains five suggested walking routes in the Polish capital, for the first time taking readers to the right-bank district of Praga, with its rich Jewish past, now undergoing a process of swift urban renewal.
