Bologna & Forlì | AEPJ 2025
This month, Helise, Paweł, and Marta represented the Taube Center at the European Routes of Jewish Heritage Incubator in Bologna and Forlì, hosted by the European Association for the Preservation and Promotion of Jewish Heritage and Culture (AEPJ).
Highlights included:
Exploring Jewish Bologna
Participants visited the Jewish Quarter, the Jewish Museum, and the historic Synagogue, engaging with colleagues from across Europe on the significance of Jewish heritage in contemporary civic life.
Interpreting Difficult Heritage
Sessions led by Prof. Alessia Mariotti and Jack Shepherd explored:
• how architectural legacies from totalitarian regimes shape today’s memory landscapes,
• the role of “everyday heritage indicators,” and
• community-rooted approaches to interpreting dissonant heritage.
Mi Dor Le Dor Italy Showcase
Italian partners presented innovative pilot actions linking Jewish heritage with local history, from museum education to creative public engagement.
Forlì Fieldwork
Participants examined Fascist-era murals during an interactive workshop in the former Bruno Mussolini Aeronautical College and engaged in discussions on sustainability and governance in transnational heritage networks.
A rich and inspiring week — one that strengthens our shared work across the European Routes of Jewish Heritage.
