A special message from Helise Lieberman, Taube’s Director:
September 1st in Poland is a bittersweet day.
Today is a date that will be forever etched in our collective memories. Eighty-six years ago, the German Nazis invaded Poland, marking the beginning of a brutal occupation, years of terror and destruction, and the near-total decimation of the Jewish community in Poland — once the largest in Europe.
It is also a day on which Polish Jews celebrate our resilience. On September 1, 1994, the Lauder-Morasha School opened its doors to 18 first graders in a small villa in a southern suburb of Warsaw. The school, now in its 31st year, was built with the courage and determination of Jewish parents who had established the Jewish kindergarten in 1988.
As the founding director of the school, I feel a sense of comfort (nachama) and pride (nachat).
As children all over the country begin the school year today, students at the Lauder-Morasha Kindergarten and Primary School will start theirs.
